Urban Outfitters Not So Clear on the Brooklyn Neighborhood Thing
Monday, May 7th, 2007
This is odd: it’s being reported that Urban Outfitters is looking for a space in Downtown Brooklyn. They considered the space in Court House at Atlantic and Court, but the asking was too high, apparently. Now they are looking at “a space at a building on Atlantic Avenue in Dumbo.” They might be getting their streets or neighborhoods mixed up, we thinks? The store is also considering Williamsburg, at 100 North 6th Street–or do they mean a space on Smith Street in Williamsburg?

Vox Populi: Local Cuisine Should Occupy Gage & Tollner Space
Monday, May 7th, 2007The returns are in and the people have spoken in our poll on what should replace TGI Friday’s in the former Gage & Tollner space at 372 Fulton Street.
What is the will of the people? Local food and a local chef should go in, say 43% of voters. Runner up is a high-end steakhouse with 21% of the vote, with a French bistro and a G&T revival tying for third at 17% each. Disagree? Well, you can still vote and be heard, because who are we to silence the voice of the people.

Oro Condos Rising, and Rising
Monday, May 7th, 2007Last we checked in, the folks in new contracts over at Oro Condos (rendering) were looking forward to sipping martinis in their in-house singles bar. We strolled over to see the building itself, and were surprised at the sheer height of the thing, and it’s only just more than half up. Looks like about 26 floors constructed, and it’s going up to 40 stories.
As for sales, they have already sold some of the sky you see above, because the building has passed the one-per-floor sold mark: the listings show 47 sold, the most expensive being a 2-bed, 2-bath unit going for $840 a square foot at $900k. Many more still on the block over at Elliman.
63 Schermerhorn Christened “Schermerhorn Court”
Monday, May 7th, 2007The former church site at 63 Schermerhorn whose facade boasts a big old cross is having its baptism, confirmation, or what have you — it’s now officially known as Schermerhorn Court, and is offering apartments for rent ranging from studios to 1-bedrooms plus office, no prices yet. Their site boasts color video intercoms, a courtyard, and some units with terraces. Welcome to the ‘hood!
